The current position is that at the very least there is 15 years of proven gas supply.

Was he referring to current usage rates, does anyone know? If so, he ought to be ashamed of himself.

It's stupid either way.

It takes about five years to build a fossil fuel power station, and the thing has a lifetime of about 40 years. So by the time it's built it'll only have gas for 10/40 - a quarter of its lifetime. What then?

"Oh we'll import it."
"From who?"
"From all the gas exporters."
"You mean all the gas exporters who are also building gas-fired power stations, and who might not be exporting any gas at all in 15 years?"

It's that kind of forward planning that gave us Hitler and Japan's victories in WWII. "There'll be major war for ten years."

"We have 15 years' gas supply." Same thing.
